Meet The Team

Jacob Pierce
Lead Singer/Producer
I’ve been singing and songwriting since I was 14 years old. I’ve always been inspired by things that are fresh and new, ideas that make you think deeper about the world around us, ideas that edify. Being a part of the band has given me the opportunity to express those fresh ideas with a group of amazing musicians and close friends, people who share the same passion for music and its possibilities.
My journey with music started when I was 13. I saw an old Yamaha keyboard at a garage sale, and I begged my mom to let me buy it. From there I discovered that I could ear play music, and began to teach myself songs from video games that I grew up with like Zelda and Final Fantasy. I think the first song that I taught myself that really challenged me was “One-Winged Angel” from Final Fantasy VII, I spent a good year mastering it. I’m still playing it to death every time I see a piano out in the wild, my friends are ready to check themselves in to an asylum after how many times they’ve heard me play it.
I started the band with my high school buddies back in 2017, when we called ourselves “New Edition”. A lot of time has passed since then; my worldview, taste in music, and way of life has all changed dramatically.
In high school, I was obsessed with bands like twenty one pilots, Jack Stauber, Little Simz, and Local Natives. The focus on lyrical depth, vibrant instrumentals, and unique production shaped the musician I am today. I love a song that makes me dig deeper, a song that makes me question my own views on the world. That’s the music I hope to make through this band.

James Simonson
Drummer
My name is James Simonson and I have been playing music my whole life. I first picked up the drums at 4 and then went on to play bass and guitar as well. I have been playing in churches and venues all around the Clallam County area until 2023.
My family has been playing music together my whole life which made it easy to jump into any and all instruments. My dad originally started playing bass and guitar in East LA back in the 80s and opened up for some of the largest bands of the era. He then brought that to Washington in the early 90s where he met my mom while she was playing piano for a local church. Along came myself and my 5 siblings. We all wanted to play music, but my dad didn’t want us to be forced into music lessons so we all picked up the instruments that were laying around the house and got to work learning by watching people and videos. I have still never taken any lessons to this day.
After my dad passed in October of 2022, I moved to the Kitsap area to work on my Insurance Agency. During that time, I found Sun~Over Static. They were in desperate need of a drummer and I jumped in to save the day. I joined in September of 2023 and have worked on new and old songs to help figure out what our sound will be. Other than drums, I have also recorded and written guitar parts for the band and I am looking forward to expanding my talents with the band.
